What our customers say .....

Aqua Jog & General Aqua Yoga

We are so grateful to Sue and SLK Aqua Yoga. Their support was instrumental in our 17 year old son's recovery after an ACL injury. With their help, he was able to gain back the muscle and strength he had lost to get ready for a surgery.

We can't praise enough their professionalism and commitment and have already recommend them to our friends. Thank you Sue and SLK Aqua

1:1 Swimming

Jim is less able after a serious illness in 2017.

He used to be an able swimmer, but due to many reasons was unable to remember how to swim. He has attended a number of lessons on a 1-1 bases and is now able to swim with assistance. He finds the lessons enjoyable and also stimulating and this has given him back a sense of worth. A time for him to develop his skills and see and feel a massive improvement in his mobility. He looks forward to weekly lessons and continually smiles, they have been a ‘life line’ f

Aqua Natal

I’ve absolutely loved the course and will miss the incredible relaxation in water. It really is amazing to stretch in water and not feel the weight of your growing bump. Sue keeps the class really varied each week. I’ve also made some lovely mum-to-be friends along the way. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough.

Aqua Natal

"I have news. 3hrs after the Tuesday class last week, my waters broke. Contractions started at 1.30am and intensified rapidly. I had a water birth at home. He arrived at 7.56am - whoosh, into the water, completely unaided. I feel sure the weekly classes played a part in a swift and easy labour. I’m told by my birth doula that I was not pushing and breathed him out (zero tears as a result) letting my body do the work.

Thanks again for the wonderful classes, which became a highlight of my week. I’m so glad I attended as the classes gave me weekly relaxation alongside preparing my body for a smooth birth. "

Aqua Tone

"Having had two pregnancies in the last 4 years, both with instrumented deliveries, my pelvic floor was definitely in need of some help. The classes are friendly & relaxed and with only just over two months of Aqua Tone, I have already noticed a difference. I also get the added bonus of some wonderful relaxation time without little people asking for snacks"!

Aqua Natal

"I didn’t get my water birth due to how fast my labour was but the breathing techniques from your aqua yoga class helped me immensely. The midwives kept commenting how good my breathing through the contractions was and I wouldn’t have known what to do if it wasn’t for your class. Also, my pgp went away almost instantly! It feels so good so be able to move pain free again! The only relief I had before was the day after attending Tuesday's class, it then slowly built up again till the following week!"

Aqua Natal

My aqua natal experience was fabulous!

During the summer getting in to this glorious pool was the highlight of my week. Learning techniques for birth and relaxing in the water helped bond me and my baby even more.

I’ll be back for post-natal!

Aqua Natal

Absolutely love this class. Cannot recommend it enough, Lizzie is super lovely. Gives expectant mums some me time, is relaxing and is a great place to meet and chat to other mums-to-be. I definitely think the relaxation and breathing techniques will help with labour too and its great at helping ease PGP. The pool is always nice and warm and is perfect even for those like me who have never done yoga. Wish I could carry on going after I've had my little one."

General Aqua Yoga

The SLK Aqua Yoga sessions are an excellent opportunity to improve your strength and flexibility. The pool and the room it is located in is heated, clean and there are clear Covid-19 procedures in place. I've been fortunate enough to have sessions with two different teachers, and I found both to be very accommodating to individual needs. The classes also included relaxation at the end of each class which was bliss! I found the sessions welcoming, fun, and personalised.

Thank you SLK Aqua Yoga!

Aqua Walk

When my wife told me about the course, I had what I imagine might be the typical male view. “ OK, but what a waste of time “

How pleased I am to inform you, just how wrong I was !!!
This class is truly one of the highlights of my week.
I have spinal stenosis, and weak knees.
Firstly I genuinely feel, Sue gives each member of the class her very personal attention, and that she really cares.
SLK classes are making me more aware of how I stand, and how I walk, even the correct way to push a supermarket trolley!!
I believe I have more confidence, and my wellbeing has improved!!

Aqua Natal

Started aquanatal yoga with Sue at 14 weeks and continued until 37 weeks. The gentle stretches and exercises were individually adapted to suit each stage of my pregnancy and how I was feeling each week.  It was so refreshing to get into the pool each week to relax and focus on me and my baby. The breathing techniques were brilliant and helped to keep me relaxed throughout labour. I met some great mummy friends too who I'm still in touch with now.  Would definitely recommend.

"I am genuinely so grateful to Lizzie at SLK Aqua Yoga for the wonderful sessions that I attended weekly from week 14 of my pregnancy. I always looked forward to them and it gave me a specific time to bond and think about my baby.

Being a first time mum, I had no idea what labour would be like for me. Little did I know that at week 30, I would deliver a baby naturally 10 weeks prematurely! I had not had time to read the books, watch the videos or do any sort of preparation for birth that I had wanted to do. The only techniques I had were of those taught at SLK.

I am so grateful and happy that I attended these classes. I visualised the pool and did the deep breathing that Lizzie had taught us whilst in labour. It helped me to have a natural birth with no intervention and just paracetamol. I don’t think this would have been possible for me without the relaxation techniques that I had been taught in Aqua Yoga.

I have also made valuable friends from these sessions, as missed out on the all important NCT relationships due to the early arrival!

I love SLK and have missed my Thursday sessions.   I would recommend to all pregnant ladies, especially first time mummies.

For as long as I can remember I have loved being in water - I always came out feeling more relaxed and positive, and leading up to the birth of my first son I joined what was then an aqua fit class run by a local midwife. I also started attending a land based pregnancy yoga class which helped with aches and pains, relaxation and breathing techniques in preparation for labour. I was converted.

After the birth of my second son, I said goodbye to 23 year in banking and re-trained as a baby swimming teacher, and qualified as an ASA swimming teacher.

I continued to practice land based yoga and then I found Aqua Yoga - Yoga and water together - a perfect mix!  Lizzie and I were on our first Aqua Yoga course together and have attended more courses together since, and look where we are now! Teaching wonderful Aqua Yoga classes across 4, soon to be 5, pools across West and East Sussex - we are loving it!

Lizzie Hemmant

I have loved swimming since a young age and I understand the benefits of what water can do for you.

While I was pregnant with my daughter I attended an aqua aerobics class every week from 14 weeks that was taught by a retired midwife. The class was amazing as it combined my love of swimming with gentle exercise and I made some great friends, some of which I am still in contact with 7 years later!

I was also lucky to find a yoga course, very late in pregnancy, after it was recommended by a friend. It taught me how to breath, yes I know that sounds crazy, but it really helped during my labour and I wish I found the class earlier in my pregnancy.

It made me start thinking about the classes again when I was pregnant with my son, only neither of them were running and I couldn’t find anything similar.

Since then I found Aqua Yoga. I found courses  and I enrolled immediately! Its been the best thing I have ever done. It means I can now teach aqua yoga, a combination of adapted yoga in the water . It has opened my eyes to the huge amount of emotional and physical benefits that these classes can bring.
