Classic yoga exercises adapted to water

deep breathing, stretching and relaxation techniques using gravity, buoyancy, water resistance and hydrostatic pressure


The pools at West Grinstead Swimming Academy, Giles Leisure, Lewes,  Seven Sisters Pool, Seaford, Robins Garth at Small Dole, near Henfield, and MXT Storrington are warm by comparison to public pools, as is the air temperature, so perfect for gentle aqua yoga exercise and relaxation - as consequence, we do not offer aqua fit or aqua aerobics classes.

Aqua Yoga Strength Class - coming Summer 2026

West Grinstead Pool

 40 minutes of gentle exercises using a mixture of mini, short and long noodles to build strength using the water’s resistance and buoyancy. Repetition of exercises, increasing load progression, compound movements that are slow and controlled, all enabling you to build on your own personal strength. A warm up, cool down and a few minutes of relaxation at the end to allow your body to rest and recover included.


The first class is on Friday 5th June 1320-1400.

Please apply as soon as possible if you can attend as taster classes are booked on a first come, first served basis.

When Spring temperatures start to rise Aqua Jog comes to a finish but we all know how our weather can change so  we are now introducing a new course - Aqua Yoga 'Mix'.  This course (and each class) will incorporate elements of all available courses that we offer - Aqua Walks, Aqua Jogs (when temperature allows), and Aqua Yoga exercises (balance / core / stretching / resistance).  Progression options are given so this class is open to everyone !

Aqua Tone 


Pelvic floor muscles come under strain for many reasons, pregnancy, exercise, hormonal changes, stress, and leakage and incontinence can become something we 'live with'


But ....... you can make changes with breathing techniques and gentle aqua yoga exercise to help tone and strengthen core, abdominal and, most importantly, pelvic floor muscles.  Week by week exercises and breath work activating quick and slow twitch muscles in the pelvic floor will improve pelvic floor muscle control.


Why not come and enjoy this wonderful pool, learn the techniques to tone core, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, and then practice exercises at home to speed up the process.

Aqua-Natal Yoga

Suitable for expectant mums from first scan to full term.  A great way to exercise safely, learn relaxation and breathing techniques.  40 minutes of wonderful bonding 'me-time with your baby.

Aqua Walk

Gentle static and walking exercise.  Suitable for pre-hab before surgery or post-op following surgery - hips, knees, backs, ankles, shoulders.  Also suitable for stability, mobility and breathing issues such as copd, long covid or asthma.

General Aqua Yoga

Yoga adapted to water. Stretch, balance, resistance and core exercises with little impact. A great class for people who find exercise on land difficult. Exercises can be adapted for specific health needs.


Aqua Yoga Mix

A class which incorporates a little of all exercises we offer. Walks, yoga exercises - core, stretch, balance, resistance, and short aqua jogs when temperatures allow in the warmer summer months of the year


Aqua Tone / Aqua Yoga (Tone Breathing)

A wonderful class to tone core and abdominal muscles and strengthen pelvic floor. Particularly suitable for post natal, and pre/post menopause.

Aqua Jog

Based on the land based running App couch to 5 km.  Yoga and jogging combined.

By week 12 a 35 minute aqua jog equal to a 5 km jog at a pace of 7 mins a kilometre.  This course is offered through the cooler months of the year


Aqua Yoga Flow

A class incorporating yoga exercises and aqua yoga flow sequences to upbeat music.  The class runs to a 40 minute playlist - different every week. A fun and constantly moving class.

Some knowledge of aqua yoga is beneficial.


Long Term Conditions

Our classes are suitable for those who suffer from chronic long term conditions such as Fibromyalgia, MS, MND, Osteoperosis, Arthritis of all kinds, Parkinsons, Dementia (with carer) .......

Aqua March

Gentle aqua marching exercise in our deeper pools or those with limited space.  Suitable for breathing conditions (long covid, copd), knee, hip, back problems, pre and post 'op'.  Also ideal for those who find exercise on land difficult, or those wanting a very gentle return to exercise.
